Countertop Materials

A variety of surfaces can be used to create countertops and backsplashes. Quartz, Solid Surface and plastic laminate countertops are among the most common for commercial applications.
The difference Bellatrix Millworks brings to the table is our ability to fabricate and ship countertops with our millwork and casework products. This saves our customer almost 2 weeks of additional downtime, since these products show-up on the job-site ready to be installed at one time. No wasted time waiting for the countertops to be measured, templated, fabricated, shipping and installed.

TYPES OF CABINET MATERIALS

Quartz

Quartz countertops are made of engineered stone made from ground-up particles of quartz bound together with resins. Quartz is one of the world’s strongest materials. Quartz is abundant, comes in a variety of colors/styles, is easy to maintain, is highly resistant to abrasions, scratches, cracks and chips. It is a non-porous material, therefore it will not stain.

This material will last a very long time with high-traffic wear and is safe to transport. Quartz comes in a variety of thickness and some patterns are bookmatched – making large scale projects even more beautiful.

Solid Surface

Solid surface materials are composed of mineral dust combined with acrylic, resins, and pigments. The mineral dust used to create solid surface countertops is typically derived from marble. This mixture melts upon heating and is then put into a mold to define its shape.

Like Quartz, Solid Surface is abundant, comes in a variety of colors/styles, is easy to maintain, and is highly resistant to cracks and chips. Likewise, it is a non-porous material, therefore it will not stain. This material will last a very long time with high-traffic wear and is the easiest countertop material to transport and modify in the field. The added benefits of Solid Surface is that it is repairable and seamless. Many sink options are also available in this product.

Plastic Laminate

Plastic Laminate is the exact same material used for exterior cabinets as listed above. This material can be used as a countertop and design options allow for the look of quartz, marble, concrete, porcelain, solid color or wood. This is a very common commercial countertop application due to cost, however it is important to look at a quartz or solid surface option that may be in the same price range, if high traffic and durability are key drivers.
